A better car dealership approach

• The dealer must declare the thickness of the paint, including the areas that have been repainted.
• The dealer must allow the car to be inspected before the sale.
• The car's MOT must be valid for at least 6 months from the date of sale.
• The dealer must share any known history of the car.
• For cars imported from Central Europe, a CarVertical report (or equivalent) must be provided.
• The car must have been serviced in accordance with the maintenance schedule.
• The dealer must inform the buyer of the date of the next service of the car in accordance with the service schedule.
• The sales note must match the car's information, such as mileage, model and equipment.
• The car dealer's website must provide clear instructions for complaints.
• Complaints must be responded to within a reasonable time.
• In the case of distance selling, the buyer must be given the cancellation conditions and a return form (14-day return period) in advance.
• The trader must respect and implement the decisions of the Consumer Disputes Board.
• The shop must not be on a blacklist maintained by the Consumer Authorities.
• The trader must have proven criminal liability insurance to cover, for example, losses resulting from the seizure of a stolen car.
• The trader must be open about any defects and shortcomings of which he is aware.
